Permits Filed For ‘Ratatouille’ Attraction At Epcot
We’ve been speculating for a few months that Disneyland Paris’ wildly popular Ratatouille trackless dark-ride would be making it’s way to Epcot’s France Pavilion, and permits that were filed late last week all but confirm this.
The permits show construction taking place on the left side of the France pavilion, filling the space between France and the Morocco pavilion. Confirmation of this, and several other plans for Epcot and Hollywood studios are expected at next month’s D23 Expo in Anaheim. Chip & Co have posted the actual permits, check those out here.
The Full D23 Schedule Is Out
This week the full schedule for next month’s D23 Expo has been released, the whole thing kicks off Friday with the Disney Legends Ceremony and ends Sunday with a talk about Oswald The Lucky Rabbit. Here is the schedule:
Opening Date For Toy Story Land Accidentally Leaked?
The website Touring Plans may have accidentally leaked the opening date for Walt Disney World’s Toy Story Land. The site usually has the inside track from Disney and recently posted an unannounced opening date for Toy Story Land.
If it was the correct date, we should see Toy Story Land open July 1, 2018.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Featured In Animal Planet Documentary
A new documentary called “Disney’s Animal Kingdom: Alive With Magic” premiered last night on Animal Planet. According to Inside The Magic, the documentary will take people on a journey around the park. The documentary will feature the creators and caretakers of the park and take a look at Pandora: The World Of AVATAR with director James Cameron.
New Happily Ever After Merch Now Available At The Magic Kingdom
The Magic Kingdom’s newest fireworks spectacular ‘Happily Ever After’ is thrilling audiences at Walt Disney World, and now you can grab some pretty cool new ‘Happily Ever After’ merch too.
Inside The Magic has several photos of the new items.
President Trump WILL Speak In New Hall Of Presidents
There has been much speculation about whether or not President Trump will speak in the new iteration of Walt Disney World’s Hall Of Presidents, even some rumors about Trump’s team being difficult about the content of the President’s speech.
In a new statement released this week, Disney has put all of that speculation to rest saying, “Since the Magic Kingdom Park opened in 1971, The Hall of Presidents has brought together a one-of-a-kind look at the office of the President of the United States through film and the magic of Disney’s Audio-Animatronics technology. Despite some media reports to the contrary, President Trump will have a speaking role in The Hall of Presidents, like every president since 1993. We have been working closely with the current White House — just as we have with previous administrations — and the president’s recording session has been scheduled. The attraction will re-open in late 2017.
Whenever we refurbish one of our attractions, we take the opportunity to consider a broad range of enhancements. In this case, The Hall of Presidents is getting a new show, and a complete theater upgrade including a new sound system, lighting and high-definition projection system. The multi-screen viewing experience you may have seen in prior versions of the attraction is returning with an even wider vantage point of our country’s history.”
Maui Makes In Park Debut At Shanghai Disneyland
Maui, from Moana, made his in-park debut as a character at Shanghai Disneyland this week and he looks pretty cool! Hope to see him in the domestic parks soon. Oh, and Moana is now streaming on Netflix…you’re welcome.
Most of the rumors this week center around Walt Disney World, let’s break them down by park.
The only rumor we are hearing is that there will be a new attraction, possibly Tron Lightcycle replacing Tomorrowland Speedway, announced for The Magic Kingdom at next month’s D23 Expo.
As we reported last week, the Ratatouille Dark Ride is headed for the France Pavilion. Permits have been filed for construction work there, and for work behind Universe of Energy. We also may see a Mary Poppins dark ride announced for the UK Pavilion at D23.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Star Wars Land is apparently 4-6 months behind schedule, but work on Toy Story land is on full swing with the Slinky Dog Coaster going up quickly and the land’s new entrance getting concrete footers this week. The Great Movie Ride is still expected to close this fall to be replaced by a new attraction in time for the park’s re-branding in 2020.
The juiciest rumors out of Animal Kingdom are that a phase 2 expansion of Pandora: The World Of AVATAR is already in the blue sky phase. Exciting! Also, the Conservation Station attraction could be going down soon to be rebuilt as Zootopia!
Many of the rumors could be confirmed at next month’s D23 Expo in Anaheim.
