Disneyland’s Fastpass Undergoing Changes
According to WDW Info, “From June 21st on, guests will no longer scan their FASTPASS ticket at eligible attractions; they will now need to scan their admission ticket or annual pass for access to the FASTPASS line. Paper tickets will still be important to schedule return times and serve as reminders to guests.
Disney MaxPass will allow guests to download unlimited high-resolution PhotoPass images through the Disneyland App, and for the first time, guests will be able to use the Disneyland App to book and redeem Disneyland FastPass reservations. The cost will be $10 per day, and annual and daily options will be available for annual passholders.”
Plans For Nintendo Land Leak
We have long been speculating on rumors surrounding Universal Orlando’s upcoming Nintendo World, and a lot of those plans are now confirmed.
Here’s what we know:
Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone and the Animal Actors stage are going away. The only thing that will be saved in the area of the park between the Horror Makeup Show and the Simpsons Ride that will survive is the fan favorite ‘ET Adventure,’ which is rumored to be receiving a new entrance on the front of the building facing the Central Park area.
As for attractions, the main ride in the area will be…Mario Kart! Theme Park Tourist reports, “Much like its Japanese counterpart, this attraction will be a moving track ride where guests wear augmented reality glasses to that display power-ups, obstacles and more from the game series. In addition, this attraction will have a score element, which will increase re-rideability.”
The other big attraction will be targeted at adults…a Donkey Kong Coaster! Theme Park Tourist continues, “…rumors seem to indicate that this attraction will be similar to the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Walt Disney World, with guests boarding a mine cart, and then zooming past several show scenes featuring characters from the video game series. Interestingly, it is rumored that these characters will be represented by animatronics instead of screens, which is a departure from the recently-constructed Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts attraction, which also has a mine cart theme.”
Not much else is known, but it looks like the future is very exciting at Universal Orlando!
Disneyland’s Adventureland Being Re-Worked To Fix Bottleneck Situation
The insane bottleneck that always occurs inside Adventureland at Disneyland will soon come to an end…well, maybe. Last week, according to Chip & Co, “the Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost and South Seas Traders (closed).” The Adventure Outpost gift shop will be converted into indoor seating for Bengal Barbecue.
The Tropical Imports snack stand in front of Jungle Cruise will move into the old South Seas location, and be replaced by stroller parking, which currently sits right in the middle of the walkway through Adventureland. All of these changes are expected to reduce over-crowding in the area, and are projected to finish by June 30.
Shanghai Disneyland Turns 1
Hard to believe, but Shanghai Disney Resort just turned 1 year old on June 16th. The park has garnered several industry awards and welcomed more than 11 million guests in it’s first year. Be sure to check out our interview with the Imagineer behind the Enchanted Storybook Castle walkthrough, Josh Steadman.
Disney Now Full Owner Of Disneyland Paris
For the past 25 years the Disney Company was only a part owner of it’s European park, but thanks to a stock purchase, now controls 97% of the property. Under French law, that makes Disney the full owners for the first time.
Chip & Co writes, “Disneyland Paris’ bottom line has taken some hit recently. Disney has stated that they are committed to the long-term success of this park and this deal is one way of putting their “money where their mouth is.” Within the past few years, Disney offered 1.5 billion Euros to support a successful recapitalization. Also, in 2014, Disney pledged 1 billion Euros over a 10-year time span.
The Paris terrorist attacks in November 2015 lead to a downturn in the French tourism industry and helped contribute towards a net loss of 858 million Euros for the park in 2016. There also has been a lot of volatility in the European economy and this has effected business all across Europe. In 2015, the park had a net loss of 102 million Euros.”
2018 Disney Dining Plan To Include Alcohol
The Disney Dining Plan at Walt Disney World has not, until now, included adult beverages. According to WDW Info, “Guests under 21 years of age will be able to choose one non-alcoholic beverage (including specialty beverages where offered). Guests 21 and older will be able to choose either one non-alcoholic beverage (including specialty beverages where offered) or one single-serving mixed cocktail, beer, or wine (where offered) within their meal entitlement.”
More Changes To Disney’s Hollywood Studios
A bunch of stuff stirring in the rumor mill this week about Disney’s Hollywood Studios. A couple of rumors I am hearing are that Florida’s Star Wars Land is WAY behind schedule because it appears that the rumored Star Wars Hotel is now considered a go. The hotel will likely go where the current Hollywood Studios parking lot is now…which would put it right where the planned gondola stop is as well.
The other big rumor involves the Animation Courtyard area, and the Rockin Roller Coaster. The latest rumor is that the Animation Courtyard area would be re-themed, or completely rebuilt as Monsters University from the Monsters Inc franchise. The big shocker is that the Rockin Roller Coaster would be come a part of that new land and re-themed to the door storage facility at Monsters Inc. You can imagine the coaster blasting around that scene in the film.
Plans For Epcot Overhaul
The other big rumor floating around is that Epcot is about to undergo some big changes. The entire front of the park from the main gate to the fountain of nations would be completely re-designed to be more open and to make the transition to World Showcase more harmonious.
The attraction that will replace Universe Of Energy is still up in the air, and some changes to the Imagination are on the way, some may involve Dreamfinder returning to the attraction!
As always, no confirmation from Disney on any of these, but it’s nice to dream.
