Several Options For Seeing Pandora: The World of AVATAR

Walt Disney World has announced several ways to see Pandora: The World of AVATAR. An early may annual passholder preview announced earlier this week barely lasted 24 hours before it hit capacity.

Once the land opens Memorial Day Weekend, resort guests will have access to nightly Extra Magic Hours through July 4th.

Then there is the possibility of soft openings which could start as early as late April. We will keep an eye out for those. More details here.

Disneyland’s Autopia Gets Another Makeover

Last April, Honda was announced as the latest sponsor of Disneyland’s Autopia. The attraction returned from a 4 month refurbishment with a new color scheme, redesigned cars, and a new building in the queue.

Last weekend, Autopia went through yet another change adding Honda’s ASIMO (Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility) humanoid robot and its new robotic friend, Bird to the attraction’s roadways. The figures are not animatronic, but they do add a little life to the attraction. Check out a photo here.

Security Changes Coming To The Magic Kingdom

The rumored Magic Kingdom security changes we mentioned on episode 5 are now confirmed security changes.

Beginning April 3rd, the bag check for the general public will be moved back to the Transportation & Ticket Center before you get on the monorail or ferry. Each of the monorail loop resorts will get their own dedicated checkpoints, and guests arriving at the Magic Kingdom by bus will be screened near the old checkpoints in front of the park.

Disney Testing Virtual Queues

In a move that is unquestionably a response to Universal’s new “no lines” attractions, Disney has begun testing virtual queues in Orlando. March 28 – April 7 Disney will test virtual queues at Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.

The test will include Blizzard Beach attractions Downhill Double Dipper, Slush Gusher, and Summit Plummet, as well as the new Miss Adventure Falls at Typhoon Lagoon.

Universal Orlando officially opens it’s first attraction with a virtual queue “Race Through New York With Jimmy Fallon” next week, and it’s new water park “Volcano Bay,” which opens in May boasts NO LINES whatsoever. Looks like Disney is playing catch up.

Volcano Bay Annual Pass Info To Be Released Thursday

With Universal Orlando’s new water park slated to open Memorial Day Weekend, people have already been inquiring about Annual Passes. Orlando Weekly reports that they are hearing that AP details will be released on Thursday, March 30th.

Several New Attractions Headed For Epcot

We’ve been hearing whispers this week that Epcot is due for a major overhaul in the next 5 years, which will include several upgrades to current attractions, and several new attractions including:

Ratatouille Trackless Dark Ride @ France Pavilion.
Coco Overlay @ Mexico Pavilion.
A new Spain pavilion.
A new Brazil pavilion.

and in Future World…

Mission Space is going down for refurbishment, which could result in a completely updated attraction.

The Imagination Pavilion is rumored to get a much needed overhaul on the near future.

and the rumors about a Guardians of the Galaxy attraction headed for the spot currently occupied by Universe of Energy are still ringing through.

Look for many of these changes to be in place by the time Epcot celebrates it’s 40th anniversary in 2022.
